What Does WellFedMinds Do?

We support mental health and well-being by working with communities and organizations to strengthen the everyday conditions that help people thrive.

Equitable access to nutritious, culturally relevant foods

By addressing barriers such as poverty, rising food costs, and uneven food system investment, communities can more easily access affordable, nourishing, culturally meaningful food.

Mental health promotion and upstream prevention

What we eat matters. Nutrition plays a foundational role in mental and physical well-being, shaping how children, youth, and families feel, think, grow, and heal across the lifespan.

Honoring traditional and ancestral food knowledge

Traditional and ancestral food knowledge is deeply rooted in sovereignty, land, culture, & community. We honor these relationships and support the transmission of knowledge, practices, and self-determination across generations.

Building protective factors and resilience in everyday environments

When food systems are rooted in local ecosystems and cultural traditions, they help create everyday environments that support health, connection, and resilience.

Community-driven solutions rooted in care and culture

Communities hold deep knowledge about how food can support health, care for shared resources, and sustain the environments they depend on. We honor and support those locally driven solutions.

Integrating nutrition into behavioral health care and recovery

We help behavioral healthcare providers incorporate nutrition support into care in ways that are practical, culturally responsive, and grounded in everyday settings.

WellFedMinds exists because mental health and substance use outcomes are shaped long before a crisis, by access to nourishing food, meaningful connection, and supportive environments. We partner with communities to strengthen mental health and prevent substance use harms by addressing root causes such as food access and nutrition education, social connection, cultural identity, and belonging. Our work centers prevention and early support, especially for children, youth, and families, while helping systems integrate nutrition, food access, and care into everyday settings.

Your support helps build a future where mental health, recovery, and well-being are nourished early, equitably, and together.
